The Organic Dairy Research Farm, the first of its kind at a Land Grant University, is the centerpiece of a sustainable agriculture field station at the Burley-Demeritt/Bartlett-Dudley Farm in Lee, New Hampshire.

What Does It Mean to be Organic?
Organic farming emphasizes methods that take advantage of natural biological cycles and controls. The ability of a farm to produce indefinitely without causing severe or irreversible damage relies on understanding the broad ecosystem in which an organic farm operates.

"Organic agriculture is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of inputs with adverse effects. Organic agriculture combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote fair relationships and a good quality of life for all involved."
